Hoy mi palabra del día es facil.
Today my word of the day is easy.
facil = easy
Today I thought I'd do a quick post on cognates. What is a cognate you ask ?
Taken from
http://spanishcognates.org/ :
Many Spanish and English words have Latin or Greek roots and the same
meaning; these words are called cognates. The Spanish language borrows
many words from English and, vice versa, English borrows many words from
Spanish. By knowing a few simple rules about cognates, students can
quickly expand their vocabulary in Spanish or English.
Cognates are very easy or
facil ways to add a lot of words to your foreign language vocabulary.
Por ejemplo : For example :
El sándwich = sandwich.
 |
| El sándwich is a cognate, it's almost identical to the English
word. Learning and using Spanish cognates is a great way to add a lot of
words to your Spanish vocabulary. |
I'm going to be adding at least a cognate a week to mi-palabra-del-dia.com. If you would like to study cognates check out
spanishcognates.org for a huge alphabetised free list of cognates found in Spanish.
On a side note I plan on adding a link section to the blog consisting of free spanish learning resources. As always
¡Gracias por leer y adios! Thanks for reading and goodbye !
